Aylmer Ultrasound is an “Out of Hospital” diagnostic imaging centre, licensed by the Ministry of Health, and overseen by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. It is completely funded by OHIP, and the services provided are of the same high quality and held to the same high inspection standards as all hospitals in the province of Ontario.
Ultrasound services first arrived in Aylmer in the Spring of 1992 in the form of a portable machine, one
or two days per week.
The service has grown into a comprehensive, full time clinic serving the doctors, nurse practitioners and midwives of Elgin County and the surrounding areas.
Located in the Aylmer Medical Center, our service boasts high quality digital imaging equipment to provide accurate and timely information for our patients and referring practitioners.

AND ABOUT THAT FULL BLADDER… A full bladder allows us to examine the mucosal surface, look for stones or tumours and allows evaluation of the uterus, ovaries, adnexa, and the prostate, and of course see the baby. The uterus and ovaries often benefit from the addition of a vaginal ultrasound. Vaginal sonography is the gold standard for measuring the endometrium.
